I am very impressed with this program it has a lot of potential. I had to sit there for a few seconds to figure out how to use it but I realized it was easier than it looks. I threw my initial 5 exposure RAW files at it and it handle it nicely. Upon launching the application I was fascinated with the interface. The installation of this HDR program went nice and smooth. The only problem I have is that it takes a few minutes to get to the tone mapping part especially when processing 5 or more RAW exposures. Rating – ★★★ Installation of this program is pretty straightforward. This program is not recommended for the extreme HDR look but perfect for subtle results. I can’t really explain it you’ll have to look at the samples or better yet download it and try it yourself. Also I like it because it produces a unique look. This HDR software produces natural looking HDR images. This is the HDR program I use for a more realistic result. SNS-HDR is the other HDR program that I use. This is one program I highly recommend doing a demo download. This HDR software is packed full of feature, I not even gonna attempt to list them all. At first, I thought there was no drag and drop feature but after playing around I manage to drag and drop my exposure into the small menu on the top right side. I loaded my first set of 5 exposures from and it handles it and produced a very clean image. Rating – ★★★ OS: Windows & MAC Price: $99.99 Īnother easy to install HDR program with plenty of features and settings. The results are beautiful if you’re looking for natural HDR photographs. Overall I feel this HDR program has a lot of potential and worth checking out. I ended up using just the presets more and make limited adjustments to the settings. There are a lot of options and controls for adjustments however I found it painful to use on my 4K UHD monitor because the interface was very small. The presets that it comes along with aren’t the most impressive. I was able to export from Lightroom to HDR Projects 4 without any problems and the results were very good. The Lightroom Plugin that comes with it is a plus for any photographer who uses Lightroom in their workflow. Available for both MAC and Windows computers it is simple and easy to get started working with HDR images. HDR Projects 4 is a more recent HDR software that has some interesting features. Rating – ★★★ OS: Windows & MAC Price: $9.99 a month However, the dynamic range that you get doesn’t compare to any of the first three programs mentioned. But results can be very realistic and pleasing. The HDR solution in Lightroom Classic is super basic with only three options. Adobe Lightroom Classic CC has the HDR feature built right in. The "Local Contrast - strength" parameter was decreased so the image still looks very natural. For those looking for a simple solution to HDR photos in Lightroom. Increased not to brighten the shadows too much, "highlights" was increased as well in order to make the clouds more dramatic. The tone mapping settings were slightly changed in respect to the "Dramatic-bright" preset. Note that there is much more detail in clouds. On the right side there is a RAW photo after treatment withĮasyHDR. The photo on the left is a JPEG as it is produced by the camera. When the camera writes JPEG it compresses the recorded 12-bit (or better) data to fit it into 8-bit per channel format.īy doing this quantization losses occur and also typically some dynamic range is lost, because of the compression curve However image in RAW format is betterįor further processing as it contains more detail. Scene regardless in what format it stores the image data - in JPEG or in RAW. Digital camera records the same dynamic range of the This example shows the advantages of using easyHDR on a single RAW photo. Using HDR software to develop a single RAW photo. That allowed to better tune the settings, depending on the different characteristics of those two areas. The sky was processed with slightly different tone mapping settings than the rest of the photograph by using layers. Also the lens distortion has been automatically corrected with easyHDR in order to straighthen the field of view. The moving water was a major problem, but was easily overcome with automatic ghost removal. The vignetting effect was also very helpful to achieve that. That allowed to boost the local contrasts and make the image look dramatic. The noise level has therefore been greatly lowered - especially in the sky and in the shadows. However, the HDR processing with easyHDR, of 5 differently exposed photos, allowed to improve the quality, by merging together the best exposed areas. This scene does not characterize with very high dynamic range (apart from the lights, which actually take just a fraction of the image). Notre-Dame de Paris - HDR picture merged from 5 bracketed shots spanning from -1.3 to +1.3 EV.
